This July, we’re joining the UK in UV Safety Awareness Month, a campaign to raise awareness of the risks of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and artificial sources like sunbeds. While sunshine supports wellbeing, too much UV exposure can damage skin and eyes and increase the risk of skin cancer.
The NHS reminds us that skin cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and that most cases are linked to UV exposure. Early detection and prevention are key.
•
Apply broad spectrum SPF30+ sunscreen.
•
Cover up with clothing and hats.
•
Wear UV protective sunglasses.
•
Seek shade between 11am and 3pm.
•
Avoid sunbeds, which are harmful to skin.
Look for new or changing moles, spots, or patches. If you notice anything unusual, book an appointment with your GP, early detection can save lives.
Protecting your skin is part of overall health, talk to our team if you have concerns about sun damage, skin changes, or safe sun practices for you and your family.
